About MCT
Mixed Company Theatre (MCT) is a Toronto-based not-for-profit company that produces innovative, socially relevant drama as a tool for positive change. Founded as an artist-run collective in 1983, this nationally recognized company today uses Forum Theatre and interactive arts to Educate, Engage and Empower audiences in schools, communities, and workplaces. As the needs of marginalized communities across Canada shift, MCT would like to give people the opportunity to engage in creative, and critical dialogue about how to effect tangible changes in the face of systemic injustices.
Roles
We are seeking to audition actors for an upcoming script reading in our “Harvest Justice” project which aims to catalyze positive change in the lives and working conditions of Migrant Workers in Ontario. Experience in dramatic/realistic improvisation is an asset, as is knowledge of Forum Theatre/Theatre of the Oppressed. The casting needs are as follows:
James
- Male-identifying Migrant Worker from Jamaica in their late 30s – early 40s
- English speaking
Diego
- Male-identifying Migrant Worker from Central America (preferably Guatemalan) in their 20s
- Spanish and English speaking
Customs Officer/Supervisor/Migrant Worker
- Male-identifying characters in their 30s-50s
- English speaking
Government Official/Migrant Worker
- Female-identifying character from Central America in their 30s-40s
- English speaking
Schedule and Rates
Actors would need to be available on Saturday June 7th for an in-person script reading at the Mary Ward Centre, 70 St Mary St, Toronto, ON M5S 1J3
There will be 2 days of workshops/rehearsals ahead of this reading, with the exact timing and schedule to be determined.
Workshop/Rehearsal Rate: $30/hr
Reading Rate: $180 for 3 hours
Note: this engagement will be under an Equity Contract, available to both union and non-union performers
We also have a prior virtual script workshop on Sunday May 4th that actors may be invited to participate in if available. It will be paid at similar rates to the June workshop engagement.

If you are interested in auditioning with Mixed Company Theatre, please send an acting resume and headshot to info@mixedcompanytheatre.com, specifying the role(s) you are interested in.
Artists selected for an audition will be notified by email and asked to choose a timeslot on one of the available audition dates. Auditions will be held over Zoom.
