In 2009, Mixed Company Theatre STARS Awards were established to honour youth, adults, and organizations who share our commitment and belief in the value of theatre for social change. Take a look at our past award recipients.

General rules:

  • Applicants are limited to one nomination per year.
  • Only successful candidates will be notified.
  • Applications received outside deadlines will not be considered except for exceptional circumstances.
  • Awards shall be allocated annually.

Amount of funding available: Non-monetary, plaque certificate award.

 

The Rising STARS Award – Individual Youth

MCT’s Rising STARS Award is presented to a youth (25 and under) who has demonstrated a commitment to educating, engaging, and empowering his/her peers and community to create positive solutions to challenging issues in their community, school, or workplace.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Youth ages 25 and under.
  • Demonstrated active involvement in the community.
  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident at time of application for the award.

Application contents:

  • Mixed Company’s Nomination Form – Download.
  • 1 page (250-500 words) or video describing the Nominee’s relevant experience, listing the reasons why he/she should be honoured with MCT’s Rising STARS Award.
  • Nominee’s resume and photo (if available).
  • Provide 1 reference letter/ statement from an additional person and/or organization to support your application.

 

The Shining STARS Award – Outstanding Individual

MCT’s Shining STARS Award is presented to an individual who has used the power of art in any form to educate, engage, and empower communities for positive change.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Preference is given to individuals who have worked with or associated with MCT during the current award season.
  • Demonstrated active involvement in the community.
  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada at time of application.

Application requirements:

  • Mixed Company’s Nomination Form – Download.
  • 1 page (250-500 words) letter or video describing the Nominee’s relevant experience and listing the reasons why he/she should be honoured with MCT’s Shining STARS Award.
  • Nominee’s resume and photo (if available).
  • 1 reference letter/ statement from an additional person and/or organization.

 

The Shooting STARS Award – Organization

MCT’s Shooting STARS Award is presented to a partner in the community, government, or business that has demonstrated a commitment to theatre for social change and values of educating, empowering, and engaging others through its activities, policies and practices.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Open to Canadian organizations only.
  • Preference is given to organizations that have worked with or associated with MCT during the current Award season.
  • Demonstrated commitment to theatre for social change values.

Application requirements:

  • Mixed Company’s Nomination Form – Download.
  • 1 page (250-500 words) letter or video describing the Nominee’s relevant experience and listing the reasons why he/she should be honoured with MCT’s Shooting STARS Award.
  • Nominee’s resume and photo (if available).
  • 1 reference letter/ statement from an additional person and/or organization.
